AirSEAS Documentation for PDAs |
| Rev. 1.1 - April 8, 2004 |
Once the PDA, card and drivers are all working, you'll need to add your PDA
in your list of "My Devices" on http://troll.seas.upenn.edu. You can
then quickly register your PDA on AirSEAS from any desktop. Here's how:
Adding
your PDA to 'My Devices':
- Open a browser, and go to http://troll.seas.upenn.edu.
- Sign into Troll using your PennKey username and password.
- On the Welcome page, click on "Register a wireless network device"
- Scroll down to "My Network Devices" and click on "Add Device".
- Enter the name of your device and the network address and click on "Add
Device". The name can be anything you want. It is just used so you can recognize
the device easily on your list. Getting the network address for your PDA will
vary depending on what you have. For the Handspring Visor with Wireless Ethernet,
tap Springport->Status->IP Info to get your network address.
Your PDA should now be listed under "My Devices".
Authorizing your PDA on AirSEAS:
- Attach your PDA to AirSEAS. It should grab an IP address.
- Login to Troll at http://troll.seas.upenn.edu
- Click on "Register a wireless network device"
- Scroll down to "My Network Devices". You should see a checkbox next to your
PDA. (If no checkbox appears, your PDA may not be associated to the network.
Try attaching again to AirSEAS.) Check the box and click on "Register Devices".
Enjoy using the AirSEAS wireless network.
When you're done, you need to Reset your wireless connection so that other
users can have access to the system, and to prevent unauthorized use of our
network. Please follow these steps:
- Connect to http://troll.seas.upenn.edu
- Sign in (if not already signed in)
- Click on the View what's registered link
- Click on the End Wireless Connection button
- Be sure to click on Logout (on the left side of the screen)
You have now relinquished your wireless connection lease. Thank you
for using AirSEAS.
